Description
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Health and Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring plant compliancewith all corporate and legislative requirements.
Working as part of the senior leadership team, the Health andSafety Manager leads safety and wellness initiatives to develop safer, healthier, and more efficient ways ofworking.
To fulfill these objectives the Health and Safety Manager must work effectively with both internal and externalcontacts focusing on ensuring safe working conditions, effective and timely return to work programs, adequateAny MLF team member interested in being considered for this role are encouraged to apply online by August 02, Ensure plant compliance with corporate policies and legislative requirements.
Ensure roles and responsibilities are clearly defined, understood and acted upon by departmental managers, supervisors, Joint Health & Safety Committee members and all employees.
Ensure adequate health services for employees and maintain communication with the medical community to ensure timely and effective return to work and rehabilitation programs.
Oversee alternate work placements to ensure placements are conducted productively, consistently within restrictions and in a cost-effective manner.Develop, implement and monitor the Safety Program including safe work procedures and on-the-job training to meet operational objectives; Seek continuous improvement to safety by conducting regular inspections, hazard analysis, audits; Ensure timely reporting and follow up on critical injuries and Ministry orders to Workplace Safety and Health officials, Maple Leaf Foods, and management.
Provide leadership by instilling safety goals, objectives, and measurements; Coordinate delivery of Health and Safety orientation to new employees, provide advice to Human Resources staff, Safety committees, lead plant audits, accident investigations and safety promotion plans.
Knowledge of the Health and Safety Act, provincial regulations and WCB policyStrong PC skills and experience with Microsoft Office software applications
