The IT Analyst acts as a systems specialist, working with a team of users and technical staff, to specify requirements, install, test, implement, and provide training and support for systems solutions.

The incumbent consults with users, vendors, and management to determine needs and expectations, analyze current systems and procedures, support automated solutions, define business rules, assess impact, and adapt procedures.

This position acts as an IT resource to areas of responsibility and serves as a conduit between the users, IT staff, and management.


Responsibilities:


  • Investigates and analyses problems, including the impact analysis of change in order to recommend appropriate solutions
  • Suggests areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions
  • Monitors data and systems on an ongoing basis to ensure integrity
  • Determines the nature, scope, and priority of problems
  • Develops, implements, and documents solutions
  • Resolves data integrity situations requiring analysis and mass changes, ensuring that the integrity of system data is maintained throughout all change processes
  • Provides the appropriate level of assistance, guidance, and support to users
  • If system issue is confirmed, involves appropriate IT staff as deemed applicable
  • Conducts analysis to determine requirements, severity, and priority of issues, determines if/when to involve internal staff or vendor
  • Liaises with the development team when portal changes are required, communicating technical and procedural details in written or verbal format, logging cases, follow up, prioritizing existing cases
  • Tests new releases of portals
  • Develops and maintains technical expertise to support the development of new processes, procedures, methods, and users
  • Trains users; liaising with user departments to monitor utilization of systems and measure the success of a solution
  • Gathers information to identify user needs, project definition, scope, goals and constraints, and system inputs and outputs
  • Analyzes information to achieve a high level of indepth understanding of user processes and business rules
  • Performs business and systems analysis activities
  • Researches and recommend solutions
  • Plans for and designs integration between systems
  • Identifies the impact of new systems in procedures, practices, forms, automated systems, staffing, and overall organization to inform user decision
  • Creates a plan to effectively transition to the new system in a costeffective, acceptable manner, including training and testing
  • Focuses on the integration of College Information Systems
  • Resolves unusual situations that may occur by determining the nature, scope, and priority of the problem and developing, implementing, and documenting the solution
  • Works with users to provide the appropriate level of assistance, training, guidance, and support
  • Communicates completion of system changes and updates to users by creating documentation and release notes

Qualifications:


  • Twoyear Diploma in Software or Database Development is required
  • Three years of experience working as a System Analyst or Specialist with proven skills in systems analysis, database query, testing, implementation, and evaluation of complex systems
  • ITIL certification or similar training in IT service management/System Administrator is preferred
  • Indepth knowledge of system life cycle including system design, analysis, programming, testing, implementation, and documentation techniques in support of enterprise systems
  • Knowledge of relevant programming languages, databases, and operating systems
  • Excellent verbal, written, and people skills
  • Strong analytical, problemsolving, and decisionmaking skills
  • Excellent planning, time management, and organization skills
