PREVENTION AND PROGRAM SUPPORT WORKER


Alisa's Wish is a child and youth advocacy centre and sexual assault program supported by a multi-disciplinary team of like-minded professionals and volunteers who care about the safety and resiliency of children and youth.

The Prevention and Support Worker will focus on prevention and education for youth and parents/caregivers to help keep children/youth safe.

This position requires flexibility in scheduling and the ability to work evenings and weekends.


ACCOUNTABILITIES
Implements the goals and vision of the Child Advocacy Centre (CAC) by ensuring adherences to the mission, vision and values that have been implemented;
Develops, presents and facilitates group and public presentations to community partners

Facilitates a variety of community connections in relation to the CAC such as 1:1 meetings, providing resources, organizing, mentoring and role-modeling the vision and priorities of the CAC;
Represents and promotes the Child Advocacy Centre at community events and researches additional opportunities to promote the CAC;
Facilitating the Youth Advisory Committee for Alisa's Wish;
Provides back up support in the absence of the CYAC Advocate;
Reviews CVAP Applications and conducts client follow up meetings;
Provides an update and report each month at the CAC committee meetings;
Completes required documentation and collects data for analysis in regards to the program;
Performs other job-related responsibilities, as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training and Experience


Minimum of a two-year diploma or equivalent education in the human services field, along with a minimum of one year of related experience working with, and presenting to, victim populations such as youth/children's services.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Familiarity with the communities of Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, Katzie First Nations, Kwantlen First Nations, along with local community resources;
Knowledge of the criminal justice system, child welfare matters and victim services support issues;
Strong community development perspective;
Strong research skills accompanied by the ability to interpret data;
Excellent facilitation skills and the ability/desire to engage others in dialogue;
Experience working with committees;
Excellent communication skills, including writing skills and the ability to easily begin conversations;
Ability to work independently;
Excellent computer and technical skills;
Ability to be flexible in terms of schedule, including evenings and weekends.

This is a unionized position with a starting hourly rate of $28.32 per hour.
