Position Summary
Patient Engagement in Research (PER) is a strategic priority for UHN Research.

UHN aims to improve the learning health system with patient's insights, experiences, and biological and clinical data by engaging and empowering our community of patients and partners across the spectrum of research design, execution, interpretation, & communication.

Duties
The Research Associate I will support the patient engagement in research strategic priority at UHN.


They will be responsible for:

  • Building and fostering positive relationships with stakeholders across the organization including clinicians, scientists, research teams, patient partners, and senior leadership to promote the values of patient engaged research;
  • Acting as an ongoing liaison between patients and research, monitoring their continued engagement and understanding of the research process;
  • Developing and delivering PER communications, tools, training, events, and orientation programs;
  • Collecting, surveying, and analyzing program data;
  • Assessing and monitoring the external research environment to identify leading practices in PER;
  • Assisting with preparation of talks, articles, reports, and other adhoc tasks related to PER;
  • Attending relevant clinical team, research or lab meetings, working as part of interprofessional research teams.

Qualifications

  • At minimum, a completion of a bachelor's degree program, or recognized equivalent in Health or Science related discipline; Masters or advanced degree (i.e. MBA, PhD etc) are
preferred

  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills prior experience working and/or communicating with vulnerable patient populations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of research methods and knowledge translation; knowledge of concepts, values, and theory related to patient engagement in healthcare and/or research are an asset
  • Affinity for networking and building personal relationships
  • Sound moral judgement and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent project management skills, with demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and timelines
  • Proficient with

Microsoft Office:
Excel data organization, data types, filtering sorting and aggregating records, Word & Powerpoint
