  • Located at Wolseley Canada's Burlington, Ontario corporate offices and reporting into the Director of Category Management, you will be responsible and accountable for Supplier relationships, supplier, and category financials, and achieving sales and profitability targets. You have a strategic mindset and able to balance both short
- and longer-term objectives with the development and implementation of category specific strategies. The purpose of the position is to be forward looking, create value opportunities while mitigating risk by anticipating and planning for sales opportunities and evolving market condition._

  • The Category Lead understands both external and internal factors that have a direct impact on our Sales and Branch teams and our collective ability to service the consumer intent on providing the best possible customer experience. You do this by developing value propositions across our branch and showroom network and ecommerce channels._

What you will do:

  • Team management
  • Develop and direct Associate Category Manager(s) and Specialist in the implementation of category initiatives and collaborating among our crossfunctional teams.
  • Holds the team accountable to meet deadlines and owns all related follow up and communications.


  • Products

  • Lead all aspects of the assortment review process, assessing market trends, new innovations, and products, making recommendations that support an intentional category strategy.


  • Own Brand

  • Understands the role of Own Branded products within your assortments and prioritize these opportunities.


  • Performance

  • Quarterback category initiatives intent to grow our market share while maximizing profitability.


  • Revenue

  • Responsible for the timely negotiation of our supplier contracts including financials not limited to rebate collections.


  • Merchandising

  • Own the execution strategy in branch including planogram, fixtures, signage and related POP


  • Supply Chain

  • Supports inventory management initiative by proactively managing assortment performance and addressing unproductive or obsolete products.


  • Marketing

  • Manage supplier, brand, and product initiatives for print, digital and ecommerce campaigns. Liaison with cross functional teams including Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain and Pricing to execute against marketing programs.


  • Collaboration

  • Cross functional team collaboration to navigate direct and indirect category initiatives intent to drive efficiencies, profitability and deliver on overarching category strategies.


  • Reporting

  • Owns regular business updates with a focus on the financials and related operational metrics.

What you will bring:

  • Post Secondary education in Business Administration, Marketing, or related discipline.
  • 4+ years of experience in Category management or 5 years relatable experience
  • Proven experience in portfolio management and performance analytics
  • Excellent interpersonal & collaboration skills, building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Excel, tableau, Microsoft BI and PowerPoint
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization.
  • Working effectively within a fastpaced work environment, meeting deadlines
