Accounting Technician
Nanaimo, BC - Hybrid
Atlas Engineered Products (AEP), located in central Nanaimo, provides professional design services, supplies engineered wood products, and manufactures roof and floor trusses to contractors, builders, and homeowners.
This role is primarily responsible to support the for the day-to-day accounting duties of the Parent Company and the greater AEP Group.
The core tasks included in this position include maintaining the GL, preparing and posting accounting level journal entries, supporting with calculating and processing payroll, compiling individual and consolidated reports as required for internal and audit purposes as well as general support to the controller as required.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain general ledgers;
- Reconcile balance sheets and income statement accounts
- Record journal entries and intercompany transactions
- Assist with audits and variance analyses
- Review monthly inventory
- Support bookkeepers and act as a backup as required
- Calculate fixed assets amortization and depreciation
- Calculate and prepare Payroll, Wage accruals and Benefits, ROE, T4 and Remittances, as required
- All government and WCB reporting and/or review as needed
Qualifications and Experiences:
- A minimum of 2 years of accounting and bookkeeping experience
- Payroll experience required
- IFRS experience (an asset)
- Experience working with an ERP system (an asset)
- Experience with Sage and QuickBooks
- Strong Microsoft Office skills including Word and Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problemsolving skills
- Ability to collaborate with peers and leaders within the organization
- Ability to work with other AEP team members to share professional skills
- Ability to prioritize competing tasks
- Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
- Ability to work in a fastpaced environment
