Job brief
We are looking for a risk analyst to take ownership of new and existing project risk evaluation.
The main function of the role will involve identifying risks, assessing their probabilities and consequences, developing management strategies, and monitoring their state to ensure continued awareness of changes in potential threats.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and facilitation of risk assessments for various design projects, ensuring thorough review and completion of associated reports, actions, and documentation of the risk management approach
- Determine components of the risk management process for individual projects and provide Guidance on activities or recommendation for changes
- Early and continuous identification of risks, including those within and external to the engineering project
- Prioritization of risks to include details around impact on costs, schedule, technical performance objectives, and safety
- Determine probability of risk events based on analysis of complex details
- Identify and support the use of resources that will serve to minimize or control the probability of risk occurrence and the potential impact of negative events
- Develop mitigation plans to manage, eliminate, or reduce risks to an acceptable level
- Maximize the realization of opportunities while supporting sound risk mitigation practices
Requirements:
- 5 to 8 years of experience in risk assessment / HAZOP within an engineering environment is required
- Ability to work with multiple stakeholders across the organization to gather complex information and make sound recommendations
- Ability to balance the relationship of risk and opportunity to support HTEC's projects
- Experience leading HAZOPS and/or risk identification sessions
- Experience working with various risk assessment tools
- Experience with software such as LEADER is an asset
- Experience developing and analyzing gaseous CFD models is an asset
- Experience developing process safety management systems is an asset
- Strong report writing skills; excellent communication skills
- Engineering Degree in Mechanical or Process Engineering or related field a plus
