LOCATION:
BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS, Vancouver, BC.
ORGANIZATION:
The BC-CfE is a world-renowned HIV/AIDS Centre with innovative, low barrier approach to healthcare delivery in clinical practice and an integrated group of research concentrations in Laboratory Sciences, Clinical Trials, Population Health and Epidemiology, Health Economics and Professional Education Programs.
A multidisciplinary team of clinicians including Physicians, Nurses, Social Workers and Peers and researchers including Health Economists, Epidemiologists, Clinical Researchers, Statisticians, Programmers, and Data Analysts work collaboratively to improve the health of British Columbians with HIV and communities facing socio-economic barriers in accessing healthcare.
JOB:
Working under the direction of the lead Clinician-Scientist, the Research Assistant will recruit, consent, enroll, perform study visits, and other study-related duties to support clinical research studies.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recruits research participants from clinic(s) and implements recruitment strategies as required.
- Liaises closely with health care providers inperson at different clinics and various communitybased organizations for recruitment purposes
- Screens potential participants and obtains informed consent
- Maintains essential documents and record keeping
- Schedules and conducts study visit assessments
- Dispenses trial medications
- Specimen handling including collection, labelling, storage, and transport
- Collects and enters data into the secure electronic data capture system, administers questionnaires
- Reports of adverse events and protocol deviations
- Provides honorarium to participants and maintain honorarium payment log
- Liaises with Finance staff to reconcile honoraria payments
- Participates in team meetings and report on study updates
- Performs other duties as required.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree, preference for a Master of Science degree; and at least 2 years' experience in a health setting and/or working on a clinical trial is required
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Experience in sexual health or related other fields is an asset
- Familiarity with guiding principles of clinical research involving human participants
- Expertise in use of electronic spreadsheets
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision
- Excellent project organization, implementation, and networking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload, handle multiple assignments effectively and meet deadlines
- Detail oriented, organized with sound judgment
