The Manager, Strategy is a critical role in shaping HomeEquity Bank's business direction and the value creation work with Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (OTPP).

This role presents the great opportunity for the person to be (1) a thought leader in designing and producing HomeEquity Bank's 5-year corporate strategy and channel strategy and (2) a project owner in executing top strategic priorities and initiatives while working with various functions across our bank.

The Manager, Strategy will focus on three key pillars:

Corporate and Channel strategy development, Value Creation initiative design and execution, and analysis and vetting of high potential initiatives.

This role provides the unique opportunity for the person to see the inner workings of our Bank, the dynamics at play, and how each function contributes to the strategic priorities and growth of our company.

The Manager, Strategy will collaborate with all functions across the bank, understand what truly makes growth happen, and influence key outcomes to help HomeEquity Bank realize its potential.


MAJOR ELEMENTS OF THE ROLE

  • Corporate Strategy: Lead the design and drafting of workshop materials for the CEO, EVPs, and SVPs, which will lead to the Bank's 5year Corporate Strategy
  • Channel strategy: Research and analyze market / client data and trends, identify opportunities to grow revenue, project, and competitiveness, present findings to senior management level audience, and collaborate with stakeholders to set Channel Strategy
  • Design and Execution of Value Creation Initiatives, including but are not limited to:
  • Execute broker channel strategy
  • work in partnership with Sales, Operations, Technology, Analytics, Finance, Risk & Compliance and the Project Management Office (PMO) to build out a full execution plan and lead cross-functional working sessions to land on all business decisions related to the broker channel
  • Identify opportunities that will help the Bank grow its revenue and maintain the dominant market position
  • Foresee crossfunctional business impact and dependencies, initiate process to determine what is required from whom, and take action
  • Determine customer needs and work with CX, Sales, Analytics, Marketing teams etc. to prototype a new product
  • Board materials: Lead the creation and drafting of Board deliverables, including but not limited to annual strategic planning materials, market research, analysis of key initiatives, business unit focus and rationale
  • Research and analysis: Conduct customer interviews, broker/partner interviews, regular industry research (trends, technology, competitive environment, best practice, etc.) to provide business insights; translate research into highquality reports to inform internal stakeholders, and the Board where appropriate, on key decisions; work with analysts from other teams and lead the design and execution of analysis to produce business insights as required.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Qualifications:


  • At least 2 years of strategy consulting or management consulting experience
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Business or a field requiring strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated experience in working independently and leading initiatives with key stakeholders across the business
  • Experience in product launch is an asset
