Description

Working within St-Laurent Academy, a dynamic and steadily growing Private School, the Assistant Cook works alongside our Head Chef planning, cooking and delivering healthy meals to/for our students.

All meals follow strict guidelines with regards to preparation safety, student medical requirements, daily menu allocations and overall environmental concerns.

At our school, we truly believe that what a student eats, is essential for them to meet their fullest potential


Hours of Work:


  • Full Time
  • Monday to Friday
  • 7:30AM 3:30PM (8 hours per day)

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • working alongside and following the guidance of the Head Chef.
- preparing all ingredients for use in the daily meals (washing, storing, cutting/chopping, etc.)
- following and respecting all menu requirements as they relate to the wellbeing of the student body. There is a set menu for each day and each group pf students, including our Daycare.
- interacting with the Daycare with regards to all meals, including delivering the meals directly to the Daycare classrooms
- cleaning and maintaining the school's kitchen to meet all inspection qualifications and requirements
- participating in monthly Health Inspections
- supporting larger school events that occur throughout the year, for example: our annual Open House, special Holiday events, graduation celebrations, evening parent-teacher meetings, etc.
- pick up of groceries and supplies when/if needed


Requirements & Qualifications:


  • Current certification in First Aid & CPR, WHMIS and Ontario Ministry of Labour Worker's Health and Safety Awareness, throughout the duration of this contract.
  • All employees must submit a negative Criminal Record Check for The Vulnerable Sector to the Director of Finance & HR (Human Resources). A renewal of this document is required every five years. (Employee is responsible to notify ASLA should this status change prior to the 5 year expiry)
  • All employees must submit a negative TB Test to HR (Employee is responsible to notify ASLA should this status
- change).

  • A completed Personnel Information document.
The employee must inform the HR in writing of any changes in:


  • Allergies, Medical Information, Emergency Contacts, or Mailing Address and Direct Deposit information during the
- course of this Contract Term.

  • Confirmation of completion of the
    _Food Safety Certification/Program_
