Business Development Officer - Toronto, Canada - Custom Biologics
Description
Scientific and operational excellence are the pillars of Custom Biologics.The Incumbent will work closely with our leadership team to develop a global marketing plan and strategy to increase brand awareness and generate new business.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Contribute to designing and executing Custom Biologics' business development strategy and tactics.
- Lead the identification and the evaluation of business opportunities in current and new large molecule bioanalytical testing services. Emphasis on biosimilars, oncolytic viruses, vaccines, and genetherapy biotherapeutics.
- Accountable for meeting annually established sales and profitability targets within approved expense budgets and for assigned territories.
- Provide forecasting analysis on market trends as well as on outbound marketing initiatives to support strategic decision making, drive revenue, and increase profitability.
- Deliver strategic insights to increase brand recognition and financial growth.
- Participate in the development of marketing and communication strategies and initiatives with the goal of driving lead generation to fruition.
- Lead the preparation of client SOW/RFPs/Proposals and Term sheets.
- Grow and maintain Custom Biologics' contact network of business opportunities.
- Be the first line of contact with potential clients.
- Represent Custom Biologics in a professional, courteous manner at all times.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Selfmotivated, and comfortable generating new leads.
- Strong scientific knowledge in biotherapeutics including biosimilars, vaccines and large molecule drugs.
- Ability to work independently to manage workload and priorities and to reprioritize as the changing situation requires.
- Ability to conduct competitive market analysis.
- Knowledge of advancing brand and reputation through online channels.
- Personal attributes: results focused, customeroriented team player, self‐motivated, pride in work, positive outlook, enthusiasm, and adaptability to changing business requirements.
- Advanced knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, Excel, SharePoint and project management software tools.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- PhD degree in a biological science discipline
- 5 years or more experience working in business development, strategy, and sales in a CRO/CMO setting.
- Knowledge of immunooncology including but not limited to biotherapeutics (mabs, biosimilars, ADC), oncolytic virus and gene therapy is required.
- Thorough understanding of preclinical/CMC and clinical testing requirements of biotherapeutic, oncolytic virus and gene therapybased drugs.
- Track record in identifying, assessing, and advancing new business development opportunities.
- Experience in developing social media and outbound marketing campaigns.
