and Shoulder Program—MULTIPLE PART-TIME CONTRACTS WITH PAID VACATION

Position Summary:

As a key member of the Couchiching Family Health Team (CFHT), and an integral part of an
interdisciplinary health care team, the major role of the job incumbent will use a variety of
physical techniques and therapies to treat and rehabilitate patients who are suffering from
disorders and/or injuries of the back, neck, shoulder or musculoskeletal system. These
techniques and therapies will differ depending on the occupation.


Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Assess a patient's medical condition by reviewing their medical history, listening to
the patient's concerns, and performing a physical examination

  • Review previous imaging reports and educate patient on relevant findings
  • Conduct a thorough biomechanical assessment, including any necessary orthopaedic
and neurological testing

  • Provide musculoskeletal soft tissue therapies
  • Provide medical acupuncture for the therapeutic purpose of modulating pain (if
applicable and qualified)

  • Advise patients on health and lifestyle issues, such as exercise, nutrition, and sleep
habits

  • Refer patients to other health care professionals, if needed
  • Formulate and communicate medical diagnoses
  • Determine the need for, and order from, an approved list of screening and diagnostic
laboratory tests and interpret the results

  • Provide health education and health promotion information to individuals and
groups

  • Consult with physician in accordance with the standards for consultation with
physicians, and/or refer the client to another health care professional

  • Ensure all notes and patient charts are updated in a timely manner
  • Prepare quarterly reports and monitor daily statistical data to ensure statistics are
reported to the Ministry of Health in a timely fashion

  • Participate in CFHT and regional committees as needed
  • Provide education on physical therapy issues to physicians and service providers
  • Maintain and upgrade knowledge and skills
  • Maintain current knowledge of policies and procedures
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information
and Protection of Privacy Act

  • Work in compliance with Health and Safety laws adhering to safe work practices and
procedures established by the CFHT

  • O ther duties as required

Skills/Knowledge Requirements:


  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of an interprofessional team,
with excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Exceptional documentation skills and attention to detail
  • A positive and professional attitude
  • Excellent time management skills with an ability to multitask and effectively set
priorities

  • Knowledge in current, evidence based methods and practise of primary care delivery
  • Excellent oral/written/interpersonal skills

Education/Specific Job Requirements:


  • Current registration and license with the College of Chiropractors/Physiotherapists of
Ontario

  • Doctor of Chiropractic Degree or Physiotherapy Degree
  • Current registration with Ontario Chiropractic/Physiotherapists Association an asset
and evidence of Professional Liability Insurance coverage

  • Certification in CPR (BLS-C)
  • Able to work flexible hours including evenings if required
  • Police Record/Vulnerable Record Check
  • It is a condition of your employment that you receive the necessary vaccinations to

recommended by governmental and public health authorities from time to time


Experience:

Chiropractor or Physiotherapist
