Description

As the Customs Analyst, you will be responsible for all aspects of importing and exporting WESCO's cross-border shipments in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.

Customs Team including this position will work in cooperation with Transportation Team to ensure all cross-border shipments move seamlessly. You will also liaise with sales, purchasing, marketing, and customers/vendors to support the company's import and export.


Responsibilities:


  • Preparation of HVS and LVS customs entry and submission to CBSA
  • Preparation of export documents including commercial invoice, CUSMA, export declaration (CERS)
  • Day to day interactions with the customs broker for ontime release of export shipments.
  • Applies for Import/Export Permits and other certificates of eligibility (Ensure all documents are accurate and legal)
  • Provides information to and communication with all government departments as required
  • Contact internal & external clients, vendors, and freight carriers to obtain documentation
  • Investigate daily inquiries/discrepancies from Customs authorities, Customs brokers, GSC, and customer to minimize the risk of errors for imports. Import resolutions and guidance for expedited release of goods.
  • Provide customs service to internal and external customer inquiries
  • Track and trace of crossborder shipments
  • Assist and support internal/external customs audits, including researching information, data collection, and auditing the required documentation
  • Assist with yearly Trade Agreement solicitations, qualifications and renewals, preparation of blanket and individual Trade Agreement certificates (i.e. CUSMA)
  • Assist with the implementation of any new Customs initiatives or projects
  • Prioritize and complete work according to project demands, customs requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:


  • Minimum 2 years of experience in customs entry processing or bachelor's degree/diploma in International Trade or Customs related program required
  • Knowledge of customs software (e.g. Visual Importer)
  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) Designation or CBSA Customs Broker Professional considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Canadian tariff classification
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical / organizational skills & attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, Access, Word, SharePoint, etc.
  • Motivated to learn and adapt to new assignments
  • Strong interpersonal skills / selfmotivated
  • Able to work effectively under pressure
  • Willing to work extra hours when required
