What you will be doing:


  • Create a positive working environment for a team of 12+
  • Hands on pastry production, 80% or more of the work day
  • Assists in collaboration with the production planning team with forecasting and planning daily & weekly production using Microsoft NAV and based on sales forecast, inventory, production capacity and material availability: aiming for consistent instock rates for all items
  • Assists with implementation of new and seasonal products in coordination with the product development team
  • Suggest and implement new processes to improve productivity and food quality
  • Suggest and implement new processes to reduce waste
  • Alongside Pastry Production Manager, consult with Senior Management for seasonal holiday planning including production and schedules
  • As needed report ingredient issues to purchasing, follow food handling best practices, follow health and safety best practices, providing immediate and ongoing feedback to all staff and manage daily task lists to ensure efficient production
  • Identifying training gaps in all staff, providing direct training where able and working with Senior Management and Human Resources to fill where applicable.
  • Reviewing customer and retail driven complaints and compliments
  • Good manufacturing practices role modeled and upheld with all staff
  • Attends weekly production management meeting
  • Other duties as required including but not limited to;
  • Handling machinery including potentially dangerous equipment such as ovens, open flame burners and mixers
  • Following all food handling protocols as set by Senior Management and the applicable board of health

What you will bring to the table:

  • 2+ years baking experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team and nurture a healthy, productive work culture
  • Organized, adaptable and able to work quickly
  • Interest/knowledge in organics/farming/local food an asset
  • You LOVE food, particularly pastry

Certification/Licensing Requirements

  • Baking and Pastry Arts diploma considered an asset
