Primary Duties

Reporting to the Supervisor, Streetlight and Traffic Signals, the incumbent will have responsibilities that will include installing, repairing, and maintaining the streetlight and traffic signals systems and associated equipment.

Maintenance of the traffic signals will meet standards set by the International Municipal Signal Association (I.M.S.A.) and Standards set by the Highway Traffic Act.

The incumbent may be performing either or both functions depending on their level of qualifications. Incumbents will provide technical information and reports as required.
Education, Certification and Other Qualifications Required

  • Certificate of registration as a Journeyperson Electrician (Construction and Maintenance or Industrial) or ability to obtain within 6 months is required. Completion of Mobile Crane Operator (08 ton) training and Hydraulic Aerial Equipment training will be considered an asset.
  • Possession of IMSA Traffic Signal (Any Level) Certification will be considered an asset.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a Class "DZ" driver's license.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certificates or ability to obtain certificates.
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act.
