Respite Service Facilitator

Ontario Autism Program (OAP) - Urgent Response Services (URS)
Permanent Part Time

  • Schedule 1: _Tuesday and Thursday, 3:00 p.m. 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, 8:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. (16 hours/week)
  • Schedule 2:_ Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 3:00 p.m. 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, 8:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m hours/week)
Peel Region (Brampton and Mississauga)

Community/Onsite


Position Summary:


Key Responsibilities:


  • Assist with planning, implementing and evaluating recreation activities and activities of daily living for participants in the Respite Program.
  • Employ behavior management strategies as set out by the URS Direct Service team.
  • Work towards maximizing client independence in day to day activities.
  • Engage in general client care including feeding, dressing and toileting as needed.
  • Promote participation in recreation activities and social skill development.

Qualifications:


  • Experience working with children and youth with Autism;
  • Experience working with children and youth with challenging behaviors;
  • Knowledge of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) is an asset;
  • Experience with assisting individuals in personal care;
  • Current C.P.R. and First Aid and CPI certificate is preferred;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends;
  • Enjoy working with children in a team atmosphere;
  • Valid driver license and access to a vehicle is required;
  • Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.
