- A Bachelor of Kinesiology, Physical Education or a related degree or diploma;
- NCCP Fundamentals is an asset (basketball, soccer or badminton);
- Climbing Wall Instructor ACMG or CUI Level 1 or higher is an asset;
- A minimum of two years' experience working with youth;
- Experience with sport leagues, supervising staff, day camp, supervising staff, and program development;
- Excellent customer service attitude;
- Availability in the evenings and weekends to meet community and branch needs;
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR C certification (CPR recertified within the last 12 months);
- Evidence of a clear Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Search;
- Three professional references required.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Lead the team of staff and volunteers working for Sport, Day Camp and Climbing including hiring, training and performance management;
- Adhere to policies & procedures that support high standards for Health & Safety and Child Safety & Protection;
- Play an active role as a member of the Sport, Day Cam and Climbing program by attending regularly scheduled meetings and inservices;
- Oversee the budget for Sport, Day Camp and Climbing by reporting on variances, managing expenses and monitoring revenue generation;
- Ensure all administration systems are in place and are adhered to as set by YMCA Calgary;
- Take initiative to support program cycles for Sport, Day Camp and Climbing including registration, program cancellations and wait list management;
- Provide branch support at Saddletowne YMCA assuming weekly Duty Manager Shifts and engage Healthy Safety Training and Duty Manager In-Services;
- Assist with the annual YMCA campaign by developing relationships with program participants to raise their campaign awareness.
