Program:

The
Phoenix Learning and Employment Centre(PLEC) offers education and employment support for youth aged PLEC provides the opportunity to engage in the exploration of education and career development through individualized support, readiness programs, supporting the ability to access education funding, work placements, and wage subsidies.


Job Summary:

As a member of the Phoenix Learning and Employment Centre (PLEC) team, the
Team Lead, Employment Case Manager will deliver employment and education counselling/case management support to a small caseload youth facing barriers to employment, education, and career development.

The Team Lead, Employment Case Managerwill provide guidance and counsel to the PLEC team as they support youth with complex employment barriers and needs.

This position will provide leadership and support to the PLEC program and team under the direction of the PLEC Manager as per the following duties and responsibilities.


Compensation:
$50,000 - $53,000 annually, comprehensive cost-shared group medical insurance plan, Employee and Family Assistance Program, RRSP contribution, three weeks annually of vacation to start and 4 weeks after one year, (pro-rated for the term), generous sick leave, a generous paid holiday schedule, in-house trainings, and professional development opportunities.


Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with some flexibility for occasional evening work.


Location:6169 Quinpool Rd., Suite 220, Halifax, Nova Scotia


Reports to:
Manager, Phoenix Learning and Employment Centre (PLEC)


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the program is congruent with Phoenix's vision and values.
  • Work in accordance with Phoenix's policies, procedures, and framework of practice.
  • Support Phoenix's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through learning opportunities, critical selfreflection, and professional development.
  • Support the daytoday operations of PLEC, including contributing to a positive and collaborative work environment. Regularly engaging in case conferencing with other PLEC team members, and other Phoenix teams.
  • Provide individualized case management support to a small caseload of youth as they work towards their education and employment goals.
  • Assess youth employability readiness and employment needs.
  • Create individualized and concrete action plans.
  • Provide referral services to address the youth's academic, employment training, skill development and/or job search needs.
  • Work in conjunction with the other members of the PLEC team to facilitate matching youth with potential employers.
  • Support PLEC team members in the development, design and facilitation of life skills, job readiness and career preparation workshops for youth.
  • Provide employment and education counselling practice guidance to, and share career development knowledge with, PLEC team members.
  • Lead PLEC team Case Management Meetings in collaboration with the Manager.
  • Actively engage and participate in internal committees, projects, and activities, promoting Phoenix program integration.
  • Coordinating and communicating opportunities for crossteam collaboration.
  • Actively engage and participate in external network groups/committees.
  • Liaise, advocate, and work collaboratively with other employment programs & Nova Scotia Work Centres in support of youth through continued networking and referrals.
  • Participate in community employment focused committees, projects, and activities.
  • Strategize with the Manager, PLEC to ensure that quality, effective and youthfocused programming is delivered within a team context.
  • Provide management level support during manager absence.
  • Support the onboarding and training of new staff and volunteers.
  • Complete and maintain records, assessments, daily statistics, and files, and ensure client confidentiality is protected.
