General Accountability:


  • Assists in the day to day management & oversite of O&I operations at Track level both Surface & Subway track routes. The role prioritizes, schedules, and manages the overall coordination and execution of the nightly work window construction activities on the Subway & Surface track lines. The role takes into consideration all safety related requirements of the construction & maintenance activities for both internal & external groups requiring track level access for both surface and subway tracks. Assesses track level construction and maintenance requirements in order to finalize and issue the nightly work schedule that provides safe and balanced access to the Operations and Infrastructure Group.

Key Job Functions:


  • Review and approve the safe coordination of work groups within the I&E Group requiring Surface & Subway track level access.
  • Control / Oversee and monitor work performed at track level (Surface & Subway) for the assigned area to ensure a conflict free safe and efficient track network.
  • Create, finalize and modify work schedules based on business needs and unforeseen/last minute changes and events (i.e. equipment malfunction, unexpected absences of key personnel and inclement weather etc.).
  • Authorize track level access as set out in the work schedule in coordination with Operational Safety & Planning group to ensure O&I groups work need are met.
  • Work directly alongside the TCC staff to ensure proper communication and track capacity access requests are met. This may include conflict resolution and communications amongst support staff within the TCC.
  • Work directly with Workcar Coordinators & Operating Yards to ensure to help the safe and efficient transit of work vehicles/RT's to predetermined worksites throughout the network.

Education and Experience:


  • Completion of a postsecondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent

Additional Requirements:


  • Experience in the areas of project coordination and/or engineering management of heavy construction and/or large multidisciplinary projects
  • Superior knowledge of the construction, maintenance and rehabilitation projects carried out at Surface track level and in the subway track tunnels, combined with a strong knowledge of the work cars, materials, tools, equipment, crews and special safety procedures/equipment associated with track level construction activities
  • Indepth knowledge of the engineering principles, methods, practices and techniques associated with Surface & subway construction, maintenance and repair, as well as those of related trades involved in such work
  • Ability to examine hazard risk assessments for track level maintenance and construction
  • Sound knowledge of applicable government legislation (such as, but not limited to, the Occupational Health & safety Act, WHMIS etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and work with multidiscipline teams, deal with complex issues and maintain effective working relationships
  • A valid Province of Ontario Class 'G' driver's licence
  • Demonstrated negotiation and mediation skills are required for the successful resolution of maintenance, construction and work coordination issues
