North Vancouver Recreation & Culture (NVRC) is dedicated to building healthy individuals, families and communities. NVRC offers a wide range of recreation and cultural programs and services to residents of all ages and abilities.

We are currently seeking energetic, responsible and highly-motivated individuals who are able to prepare and lead a variety of age appropriate cooking and baking programs for preschool, school age children and adults.

You will be delivering excellent customer service experiences. You will lead cooking and baking activities while creating a safe and fun environment. Set up, preparation, planning and clean up are responsibilities included in this position.

You are reliable, responsive to customer needs, and excellent at building relationships. You will be comfortable working with children, adults, other leaders, volunteers and facility staff.

DUTIES:

As a casual
Cooking Instructor 1 you will be responsible for lesson planning, and delivering a fun and interactive culinary learning experience for adults, school age, and/or preschool age children.

Programs may include both cooking and baking components. Programs run Mon-Fri at a variety of times through the week. Shifts range in length from 3.5 hours to 7 hours.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following, and will include tasks beyond the kitchen:

Food preparation and Dishwashing
Setup and cleanup of cooking classes
Create skillsbased lesson plans which include Food Safe guidelines and best practices for food handling
Ensure a premium cooking class experience is delivered to each student
Instructing groups through basic recipes
Occasional grocery shopping

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Comfortable with food preparation (knife skills, safe food handling and basics of food storage)
Experience in a kitchen is preferred
Detailoriented
Responsible and able to work with limited supervision
Solutionsoriented and adaptable to change
An engaging, creative, handson, and interactive manner

QUALIFICATIONS:

HOURLY RATE:
The rate of pay for this casual position ranges from $21-23/hr
