Main Purpose:
The keying specialist is responsible for a wide range of locksmith tasks including padlock assembly, key cutting (laser and engraving), cylinder pinning and core assembly.
They ensure that all processes of assembly and key cutting matches appropriately per order specifications using hand tools and other specialized equipment.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
- Read work orders or production schedules to determine specifications, such as quantity, color, dimensions, etc.
- Assemble the locks by positioning the parts per assembly instructions, by hand or with manual or electric tools, such as screwdriver and tweezers.
- Cut, engrave, and stamp keys as required using specialized machines.
- Perform cylinder pinning and core assembly.
- Identify any defective items and handling them according to established procedures.
- Quality verification of products to ensure full functionality.
- Repackage the locks and send the orders out to shipping.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing assembly quota daily.
- Keeping a clean and tidy workspace.
- Observe and adhere to all safety policies and identify and report unsafe work practices or conditions.
- Provide assistance to other departments on an asneeded basis.
Education Requirements
- High school diploma (required)
- Vocational certificate or diploma in locksmithing (preferred)
Experience
- 2 years of manufacturing (preferred)
- 1 year of locksmithing (preferred)
Skills And Competencies
- Selfmotivated with critical attention to detail
- Mechanical aptitudes.
- Operate computer software's with ease.
- Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fastpaced and deadlineoriented environment.
- Ability to manage and prioritize workloads.
- Ability to assemble quality products in a timely manner.
Physical Demands
- Constant use of hands to grasp, move, or assemble very small objects.
- Repetitive movement of fingers, hands, and wrists.
Salary:
$19.00-$21.00 per hour
