Introduction

We are looking for an individual with Alberta Journeyperson certification as a Machinist for our Service Centre in Leduc.

We'll rely on you to prepare, to operate appropriate equipment to machine and put together mechanical structures or parts with a great deal of precision.

Knowledge of different kinds of machinery and their maintenance is essential. Must have experience with gearbox, maintenance and repairs.


Responsibilities:


  • Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  • Operation of Horizontal Boring Mill, CNC Lathe, Manual Lathe, Manual Mill
  • Machining and milling of mining equipment components (i.e.; gearbox bores, shafts, gears ) to O.E.M. specifications.
  • Maintain a system that accurately identifies, categorizes, and tags parts.
  • Use your many years of experience and judgement to successfully repair equipment using the correct processes, machines, techniques, and tools while always having the most costeffective methods in mind.
  • Take steps to ensure every job is done in a manner that is safe and completed according to the latest workplace safety regulations, laws and requirements.
  • Shall have ability of working with tight tolerances. Must follow quality procedures, ensure ITP conformance, and conduct failure analysis to provide corrective action solutions.
  • Set up and operate various heavyduty metalworking machines such as lathes, mills, cutting torches, grinders and drills, including computer numerical control (CNC) equipment, to bend, cut, form, punch, drill or otherwise form heavymetal components.
  • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety. Abide by safety procedures, conducting prestart checks on machinery and safe operations.
  • Rig, hoist and move materials safely to storage areas or within worksite.
  • Ensuring safety is a priority to self, fellow workers, the general public and the assets of the company and following policies and procedures set out by the company.
  • Other tasks as directed by the Service Centre Shop Manager or Production Planner.
What you bring

  • Five (5) years Machinist experience.
  • Minimum Alberta Journeyperson certification as a Machinist (Red Seal Journeyperson will also be considered).
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and mechanical background with emphasis on trouble shooting and providing solutions.
  • Has effective interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy while working with a variety of individuals and groups.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
