Building a community of hope since 1987, we would like to invite you to join our journey. Siloam Mission is currently seeking for a Full-time Permanent NEST Resident Support Staff.POSITION DUTIES
- Provide direct support for clients accessing Siloam Mission's supportive recovery housing program professionally;
- Administer drug screening tests;
- Provide professional, compassion daily feedback and address any behavioural concerns with clients;
- Provide professional daytoday guidance and support toward the client's recovery plans;
- Respond to any emergencies that may occur at the assigned workplace;
- Prepare and complete incident reports, daily logs, and other required documents and reports.
ESSENTIAL
- Completion of diploma or degree in Health Services or Social Service discipline or equivalent years of experience;
- Experience in completing assessments and goal setting;
- Demonstrated knowledge of NVCI, ASIST, CPR/First Aide, and Mental Health First Aide (MHFA) training is preferred;
- Knowledge of community resources for homelessness, health, mental health and substance use;
- Knowledge of chronic, episodic and transient homelessness;
- Knowledge of recoveryoriented practice;
- Demonstrated understanding of the unique issues and barriers affecting the less fortunate;
- Highly developed understanding of and proven ability to communicate appropriate professional boundaries;
- Knowledge and awareness of the Indigenous culture and cultural diversity;
- Deep understanding of substance use and mental health challenges;
- Experience in the Non-Profit sector is an asset.
PREFERRED
- Preference will be given to those with lived experience;
- Problem solver and has a strong ability to make quick decisions under stressful situations;
- Demonstrated strong ability to work as part of a team;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to form relationships with marginalized individuals;
- Able to work effectively with mínimal supervision;
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
ADDITIONAL
- Must be able to work Sunday 10:00 6:30 pm, Monday
- Thursday 11:00 am 7:30 pm,
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check and Clear Adult Abuse Registry Check will be required;
