SkipTheDishes is seeking to hire a Manager, Taxation, reporting to the Senior Group Tax Manager. The Manager, Taxation will also have a dotted line to the Senior Manager Financial Reporting.

We are looking for an individual who will take ownership of the tax portfolio at Skip, including proactive monitoring of pronouncements, managing external consultant tax advisors and participating in the design and implementation of new initiatives at Skip.

You will be a visionary and connect the dots between tax and the business initiatives at Skip and advise the business as a result.

This role will work closely with our Global Taxation team in the Netherlands and be part of a growing and diverse team.

What's On Your Plate:


  • Critically evaluate current and/or proposed systems and business processes for taxrelated weaknesses and/or opportunities for improvement and support initiatives to change those systems and processes.
  • Actively support system implementations, business process changes and other projects with a view to optimizing taxation outcomes.
  • Assist and engage in audit management, strategic tax planning and other initiatives as required.
  • Effectively manage relationships with external tax consultants and advisors.
  • Effectively manage relationships with external tax authorities, coordinating audit requests and correspondence.
  • Work with external financial auditors on quarterly and annual audits of the tax provision.
  • Prepare tax provisions.
  • Collect and/or analyze the information required to prepare Canadian tax forms (T1134, T5, NR4, etc.)
  • Support the Global Tax team in reviewing the tax returns.
  • Gather information and help produce responses or analyses for onetime requests made by other members of the tax team as part of tax audits or other ad hoc requests.
  • Monitor tax developments around sales taxes and work together with finance and the business to ascertain that the company remains tax compliant
  • Review monthly indirect tax returns and liaise with regulatory authorities.
  • Be the tax helpdesk for the business.
  • Assist on special projects if and when they come up.
  • Mentor indirect team members to grow tax knowledge at Skip.

Recipe for Success:


  • Master's degree in taxation or successful completion of the CICA Indepth Tax Course, considered an asset.
years of work experience in tax compliance, ideally in-house or at a Big 4 firm.

  • Strong analytical and deductive skills.
  • Exceptional work ethic, attention to quality, selfreliant, and strong sense of responsibility.
  • Highly organized and have the ability to manage time in a multitasking environment.
  • Comfortable working individually and as part of a team with equal ease.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong relationshipbuilding skills.
  • Exceptional knowledge of Canadian tax law.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Excise Tax Act.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS tax accounting and reporting.
