Environmental & Sustainability Specialist - Brampton, Canada - Sofina Foods Inc

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Environmental, this role will be focused on working with multiple departments to drive systematic environmental and sustainability improvements throughout the organization.
Key Accountabilities:
- Compile environmental metrics to support regulatory reporting (National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI), Greenhouse Gasses (GHG)), customer sustainability reports and internal KPIs(dashboards);
- Develop and deliver environmental training materials/programs;
- Engage with plant personnel to promote awareness, regulatory compliance, and seek opportunities to minimize risk and improve environmental performance;
- Participate in environmental audits/inspections;
- Implement environmental sampling programs in accordance with permits/bylaws;
- Support plantlevel continuous improvement and pollution reduction initiatives;
- Manage projects through commissioning and evaluate results as defined in the project scope; and
- Research and identify opportunities to reduce environmental footprint (water, waste, energy) across the company.
- Assist with developing and implementing strategies, initiatives, projects, and programs to support the Sustainability Roadmap.
- Develop and manage an internal database that tracks best management practices, data and KPIs for environmental/sustainability performance.
- Collect information and quantify Scope 1, 2 & 3 GHG emissions for the sustainability reporting program.
Requirements:
- University degree in Environmental Engineering or Sciences, or Sustainability, minimum 3 years experience;
- Strong knowledge of environmental reporting protocols;
- Able to prioritize, meet deadlines and work within the parameters set by management;
- Selfinitiative and ability to work with mínimal supervision in a crossfunctional team environment;
- Detail oriented with strong problemsolving skills and good interpersonal skills;
- Due to the job requirement, there will be frequent travel within province and occasional travel to out of province facilities.
