ABOUT POSITION:
Reporting to the Thrift on Fourth Manager, the Truck Driver will be responsible to provide courteous pick-up and delivery service to donors, customers and Thrift Stores.
Working closely with the Trucking Assistant and a supportive team you will assist in the efficient and effective reclamation, processing and/or distribution of goods and donations.
The Truck Driver will exercise safe and careful driving at all times along with safe handling/lifting procedures while adhering to commercial vehicle operator's registration requirements and standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Transport items including furniture between Thrift stores and perform pickups and deliveries for Thrift on Fourth
- Provide courteous daily dropoff and pickup service as assigned
- Ability to drive a 5ton truck safely and competently.
- Ensure that proper footwear is worn: steeltoed shoes and safety vest
- Responsible for daily inspection of vehicle, completion of logbook, and report any concerns and observations to the Manager
- Assist the Depot when not driving with garbage hauling, cardboard breakdown, sorting items, accepting incoming donations, transporting items as needed between Thrift stores.
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting and assisting guests in a courteous manner when guests are dropping off donations at the depot
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Driver's license Class 5 with clean driver's abstract
- Experience in the safe operation of driving a 5 tonne truck
- Experience working with delivery tools such as dollies and safe lifting techniques
- Physically fit with the ability to lift 100 pounds
- WHMIS Certification provided on site
- First Aid Certification an asset
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Experience in a customer service environment
- Familiarity with the operations of a Thrift Shop
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with members of the multidisciplinary team, volunteers, customers and the public.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the general public, coworkers and volunteers
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Promote a positive team environment.
