    Ovintiv is seeking an experienced Surface Land Agent/Negotiator to support the Canadian Operating Area. This position will be responsible for the effective execution of project acquisition through all phases from kick off to

    final reclamation. The successful candidate should exhibit action-oriented behavior with strong analytical and communication skills in a fast-paced environment. This is a field-based role in either Grande Prairie, AB or Dawson Creek, BC.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of all aspects of project acquisition, including negotiations, of all surface rights necessary to support upstream and downstream development in the Canadian Operating Area from project kick off to final reclamation.
  • Develop, strengthen, and maintain relationships with landowners, regulatory bodies, stakeholders, key decision makers in governmental agencies, local organizations, Indigenous communities, and community groups.
  • Prepare and conduct landowner notifications to ensure transparent and timely communication.
  • Engage cross-functional teams to support operations and ensure project success.
  • Analyze and mitigate risk to ensure capital and operations execution.
  • Ensure Ovintiv is visible in the communities in which we operate by attending landowner synergy and industry meetings, information sessions, Indigenous cultural events, and meetings with Municipalities and government representatives across the Canadian Operating Area.
  • Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of surface land acquisition experience, in the oil and gas industry.
  • Proven track record of successful land negotiations and project management.
  • Strong knowledge of land management principles, practices, and applicable regulations in Canada, particularly in Alberta and British Columbia.
  • Exhibited engagement skills in stakeholder interactions, ensuring clear communication and timely document management.
  • Creative and proactive problem solver with strong negotiation and conflict management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative attitude.
  • Knowledge of administrative duties required to complete acquisitions considered an asset.
  • Self-starter with the ability to excel with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines and time sensitive requests while assessing and communicating risk associated with program deliverables.
  • Valid Alberta Land Agent License preferred.
  • Valid Motor Vehicle Driver's License with flexibility to travel for meetings and events.
  • Active member of CALEP and/or IRWA associations considered an asset.
  • This position requires > 50% of time in the field and requires flexibility to accommodate stakeholder schedules.
  • In accordance with applicable law, the following representsOvintiv's reasonable estimate of the hiring compensation range for this role.

    Salary Hiring Range: $90,000 - $118,000 CAD

    Compensation may vary and will be determined by the geographic location, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
