What you'll be contributing:


Reporting to the Environmental and CSR Manager, the Environmental Coordinator is responsible for supporting the implementation of environmental permits, sustainability initiatives for carbon neutral operations, preparation of internal and external reports, and supporting the day to day environmental and compliance operations.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Oversee compliance monitoring programs, agency reporting and field testing
  • Support implementation of sustainability initiatives, including technologies to reduce GHG intensity, low carbon fuels and carbon capture
  • Prepare internal and external reports for environmental compliance aspects, e.g. GHG reporting, air emission reporting, NPRI, GHG reporting, MSAPR, WRTS, PG
  • Review, compile and analyze data related to process, air emissions, surface water and ground water
  • Coordinate environmental incident management including response activities, training and documentation
  • Manage continuous improvement projects (schedules, budgets) and coordinate field tasks
  • Coordinate and participate in audits, e.g. ISO 14001, PG
  • Assist with community outreach initiatives

To succeed in this position, you will need:
Education/Experience

  • A degree in Engineering preferred; Geology, Science, or Environmental Management degrees will be considered.
  • 0 to 3 years with professional, construction material industry or environmental compliance experience considered an asset.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • High level of attention to detail, methodical approach
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Ability to understand and interpret environmental data, including technical reports, emission data, maps, and regulatory documents
  • Experience using SAP system an asset
  • Understanding the _Environmental Protection Act_, the _Ontario Water Resources Act,_ the _Aggregate Resources Act_
  • Ability to work collaboratively with engineering, maintenance, plant staff and various business disciplines; dealing with provincial and municipal staff
  • Discretion in handling proprietary information
  • Primarily in an office environment with periodic exposure to production/manufacturing environments i.e., heavy equipment, inclement weather (heat, cold, rain etc.).
  • Some travel required, an automobile and valid drivers license needed
