Education:
Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
- Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years
Work site environment:
- Noisy
Tasks:
- Mount plates or cylinders and make necessary adjustments
- Prepare production schedules
- Fill ink fountains and control colour and viscosity
- Plan production methods
- Estimate costs
- Set up press and operate at slow speed to check samples
- Instruct apprentices
- Monitor regular press run for quality using computer control console
- Remove and clean plates and cylinders at end of press run
- Set up and adjust inline binding and finishing equipment
- Direct press crew to set up, operate and shut down press
- Review job orders to determine job specifications such as production time, colour sequence and quantities required, and advise press crew of these specifications
