As the
Loan Portfolio Manager with VCIB you will oversee and manage the performance and quality of a portfolio of commercial real estate, business banking and climate finance loans.

You will be a trusted advisor for the lending team in maintaining social impact and sustainable communities through a well-managed loan portfolio.

This position is based at Vancity Community Investment Bank (VCIB), an Ontario-based subsidiary of Vancouver City Savings Credit Union (Vancity).

This competitively rewarded role will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity Community Investment Bank head office location in Toronto and your Ontario based home office.

Periodically, in-person events or activities will be required of you.


A typical day will involve:


  • Overseeing the annual review cycle, to ensure Account Managers complete their analysis in advance of due dates, including gathering required items, liaising with borrowers and leading the overall process. Loans monitored include construction, project finance and term loans, including closely monitored loans with more frequent reporting requirements.
  • Managing the construction draw process and new funding requests, including review of construction project monitoring and fulfillment of all conditions precedent to funding, including legal documentation. Coordinate closings and draws with multiple internal and external partners to ensure VCIB's interests are protected.
  • Managing the renewal process on upcoming maturities on commercial real estate loans and other lending products as required.
  • Proactively identify areas of risk on the portfolio of loans, by continuously monitoring changes to social impact and/or financial sustainability, as well as ensuring that all activities conducted follow regulatory requirements, internal policies and procedures.
  • Maintain various loan portfolio reports to ensure annual reviews and renewals are completed on a timely basis. Create new reports as required by management.

You have:


  • Undergraduate degree in commerce, finance or related discipline
  • 810 years' experience in loan administration practices and commercial real estate financing, expert level knowledge of legal documentation required to register mortgages and close financing transactions. Ability to review and understand project monitoring reports prepared by quantity surveyors is an asset.
  • People leadership skills to engage with supervisors/team leads, professionals, and/ or other staff and carry out all people practices.
  • Problemsolving and decisionmaking skills to diagnose challenges and issues and develop innovative business solutions and assess risks and opportunities that may affect the unit and or designated unit. Very strong administration skills and attention to detail required.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills to create a clear understanding of expectations and address challenges and issues for the business unit, and represent the unit across the organization
