Position Summary


Under the direction of the First Nation Family Advocate Office, the Implementation Coordinator will be responsible for working with First Nations in Manitoba by providing technical support as it relates to the restoration of First Nations jurisdiction through the development and implementation of First Nations template laws on children and families respecting the 5 Nation/language groups in Manitoba.


Key Responsibilities

  • Upon request, collaborate with First Nations leadership to support the customization of template laws on children and families.
  • Act as a liaison between interested First Nations and the First Nations Family Advocate Office (FNFAO), and provide support services in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate meetings with First Nations and prepare formal presentations concerning the development and implementation of template laws.
  • Develop implementation plans to ensure accountability and satisfaction in the completion of key milestones and schedule regular checkins with First Nations to ensure successful implementation.
  • Coordinate, track, and monitor progress, and provide regular reports to ensure the project is effectively meeting goals and objectives.
  • Identify any challenges and barriers, and identify training and development resources to support the project.
  • Understand and keep up to date with the organizational structure, policies, goals and objectives.
  • Ensure tasks and projects are completed in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • A Bachelor of Arts Degree or a Bachelor of Social Work Degree from a postsecondary institution and a combination of four years of related experience and education.
  • Knowledge of First Nation issues related to the child welfare system.
  • Knowledge of traditional First Nation philosophy, and contemporary practices.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problemsolving skills.
  • Strong planning, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods, techniques, and information to develop analytical frameworks and/or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of a variety of automated computer systems and office procedures/practices.
  • Knowledge of writing, composition, techniques, editing, and proofreading.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and time management skills.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and able to travel upon request.
  • Adhere to AMC policies and procedures with specific attention to attendance requirements and professional ethics.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
  • Must have a current satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Clear Child Abuse Checks.
