Description

The

Recreation Assistant will provide recreation support to residents of Shepherd Terrace Retirement and The Village Club. This includes assessing their needs, planning, facilitating and evaluating activities. You will support the client's comfort, independence and control through a variety of interesting and stimulating activities. Supporting the involvement of families and volunteers will be essential.

Degree or Diploma in Recreation & Leisure Studies, Therapeutic recreation, Kinesiology or other related field from a community college or university
Previous experience in longterm care, retirement or hospitality preferred
Experience designing, planning & executing recreational activities and therapeutic programs for seniors
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English language required.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
Ability to take initiative, work independently in a cooperative team environment
Able to meet the physical stress of recreational programs with elderly people (ie: bending, lifting, walking, pushing wheelchairs, room setup)
Positive attitude, caring and energetic personality
