Our Community Support Services (CSS) team provides essential services that enable our clients to thrive. Whether their disability is physical, the result of brain injury, or aging, our more than 2,000 team members assist clients in their homes and across communities, to live as independently as possible.

This Opportunity:


We are currently looking to fill (1) (Part Time) - Personal Care Attendant role known internally as Support Service Attendant / Brain Injury Support Worker in our Outreach Attendant Services / Brain Injury Program in Ashton, Almonte and Surrounding area - East RegionFlexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, variable hoursper week.


Starting wage is $21.14, with paid travel time and mileage, inclusive of the government top up for hours directly supporting the clients.


Roles and responsibilities:


  • Assists clients in their own homes with nonmedical activities of daily living in accordance with individual service plans and with March of Dimes Canada policies and procedures:
  • Personal care
  • Lifts and Transfers
  • Rising/retiring
  • Bowel and bladder procedures
  • Meal preparation and feeding
  • Range of motion exercises
  • Other light housekeeping duties
  • Performs duties in a professional manner, which respects the dignity and right to privacy and maintains consumer and staff health and safety.
  • Provide one to one support and group support within the home and community toadults with an Acquired Brain Injury with activities of daily living, personal care, and rehabilitation planning.
  • Communicate with consumer, family, and team members.
  • Work a variety of shifts based on a rotational schedule (combination of days, evenings and weekends)

Qualifications and experience:


  • High School graduate or equivalen
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification, or the ability to obtain within 3 months of employment.
  • Experience working withphysical disabilities, older adults, or as an informal caregiver considered an asset but not required
  • Working knowledge of BI and rehabilitation
  • Knowledge of and abilities in transferring, lifting, bowel and bladder routines and other attendant care duties.
  • Physical Demands Self Analysis required upon hire.
  • Good interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, including deescalation techniques.
  • Proven consistency in work performance, including reliability and flexibility
  • Proven teamwork abilities
  • Experience with mental health and behaviour management skills an asset.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Ability to work flexible and regularly scheduled hours, including evenings and weekends

Driver's license, and reliable means of transportation is a requirement of the position to travel to and from client homes.
