Position Summary


The Weld Lead Hand responsibilities includes but is not limited to using various hand tools, machinery, and equipment to manufacture metal products.

The Weld Lead Hand will also oversee all employees in Weld to maximize efficiency, utilization, direction, training, and assisting of Weld Team Members.

The Weld Lead Hand will assist the Supervisor in updating hourly production quotas, setting up of the production line, performing inventory control, and continuous improvement efforts.


Responsibilities

  • Oversees Weld Department to maximize efficiencies and utilization of resources
  • Assists the Weld Supervisor in managing the lines whenever necessary or when instructed and to drive operators in achieving satisfactory level of efficiency with minimum downtime
  • Continuously update hourly production status and quotas
  • Coaches, motivates, and develops staff through open communication to ensure job satisfaction, performance and promote teamwork
  • Guide, assist, and train the Weld Team Members on the skills and techniques required to do their job
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts in manufacturing, safety, quality, throughput, delivery, and operating costs
  • Monitor production levels, part usage and report on any material issues
  • Assist in setting up the production line and help perform inventory control
  • Perform tasks involving physical labour and operate a variety of hand and power tools
  • Efficient production of products according to established procedures using work orders
  • Work with Supervisors and Lead Hands to ensure continuous improvements in work cells and hitting quotas
  • Read, interpret, and understand work orders, drawings, and blueprints
  • Use a variety of measuring devices such as verniers, micrometers, tape measure, etc. to ensure parts are within acceptable tolerance as determined by the drawings
  • Lubricate, clean, maintain and repair equipment and tools
  • Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and PakFab policies
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:


  • 5+ years' experience in a Manufacturing/Weld line environment (required)
  • 2+ years of Lead Hand experience (preferred)
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Demonstrated ability to direct, coach, and train associates as well as plan, monitor, and schedule work
  • Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced production shop
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and other technical diagrams
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
  • Valid driver's license is strongly preferred
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow direction and complete tasks in an efficient manner

Work Conditions

  • Use of personal protection equipment will be required
  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in conditions that include heat and humidity, and exposure to dust

$28.00-$35.77 per hour
