Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP is growing its Osler Works - Disputes (OWD) team to enhance support to our leading national disputes practice in Calgary.

We are looking for a motivated, hard-working and career-minded person to join us.


Are you an experienced law clerk or junior lawyer looking for an innovative career outside of the traditional associate/partner path? Do you have a passion for litigation? Are you motivated to change traditional ways of legal service delivery? Join our OWD team and work directly with our litigation group by providing support on commercial litigation and other complex disputes.


  • File organization and document support
  • General correspondence with clients, opposing counsel, joint defence counsel and third parties
  • Advanced document support for hearings, including hyperlinking compendiums and other briefs and materials (electronic and hardcopy)
  • Conducting straightforward online procedural research
  • Supporting the development of timelines, trial aids, evidence summaries, witness briefs, and questioning and crossexamination materials and scripts
  • Providing document and other support in questionings, examinations and virtual and live hearings
  • Supporting our OWD lawyers when necessary with document collection, review and production in Relativity or other ediscovery platforms
  • Attending questioning, examinations, mediations, hearings and client meetings as required
  • Managing the undertakings process following questioning or crossexaminations through proprietary software
  • Leading Provincial Court, garnishment, lien, writ registration or other small matters under direction from our lawyers

Do you have what we're looking for?

  • At least 3+ years of litigation experience ideally gained in a midsized to large law firm, litigation boutique or in a legal department
  • A Law Clerk, Paralegal or Legal Administration diploma is preferred
  • Working knowledge of the Alberta Rules of Court and the Alberta Courts
  • Superior organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a highpressure and timesensitive environment
  • Project management qualifications are an asset
  • Strong teamplayer with a desire to be a part of a highperforming team
  • Available to work occasional overtime, including evenings and weekends as needed
