Job Summary:


The Health and Safety/ Case Management Specialist is responsible to ensure a safe work environment The Health and Safety Case Management Specialist must have excellent attention to detail to identify hazards and discover opportunities to improve conditions and execute various safety programs.

The Health and Safety/ Case Management Specialist will also be responsible to track and manage workers' compensation cases.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Oversee WCB Claims Management
  • Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety
  • Maintain Health and Safety Management Program by evaluation and upgrading
  • Education/Training on current Alberta OHS Legislation, keep up to date
  • Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to law
  • Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention
  • Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions
  • Full facility inspections monthly with workers and committee members
  • Support supervisors and managers in Incident Investigations, determining root causes
  • Conduct tool box meetings and new hire safety orientations
  • Manage the Sub Contractor Management Program (orientate subcontractors, maintain records)
  • Report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics
  • Maintain accurate records of safety activities, including incident reports, injury statistics and training records
  • Conducting Internal Audits annually to maintain the Company's COR
  • Champion safety culture by role modelling safety practices and procedures
  • Promotes, encourages and facilitates the Joint Worksite Health and Safety Committee
  • Occupational Health and Safety Certificate
  • Good working knowledge of workers compensation case management
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Health and Safety Advisor/Management role
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills and exceptional verbal/written communication skills
  • Excellent time management
  • Organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledge of PPE requirements and standards
  • Complex understanding of the Alberta OHS Legislation
  • Goal orientated
  • Team player
