Position Summary:


The Construction Project Coordinator is a junior level professional with a background in civil / environmental earthworks pertinent to landfill construction, lagoon construction, mine site reclamation, soil remediation, and general road site construction projects.

The project coordinator's primary function will be to support the Project Manager and entire project team in the development and compliance of the project execution plan, and to provide consistent methods to initiate, control, monitor and report all construction activities.


The positions head office is based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba however the work will include remote field-based project work throughout Saskatchewan predominantly on a 21 and 7 shift rotation within a 12-hour working day expectation.

Travel and out of town work is highly plausible.


Key Responsibilities:


Safety:

  • Always operate to the highest standards of safety. Plan, assess, and mitigate hazards within all work activities.
  • Adhere to all Secure safety obligations, policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and communication effectively by promoting a positive safety culture for all employees.
  • Review safety documents, SOP's, templates, and other H&S documentation.

Estimating and bidding:

  • Assist in the preparation of parametric estimates in Hard Dollar bidding estimates by:
  • Review and comprehension of tender/contract documents to achieve knowledge & understanding of the scope of work and specification requests.
  • Conduct quantity take offs from drawings and incorporate in the estimate.
  • Work with procurement in obtaining competitive quotes that adhere to the scope of work request.
  • Assist the lead estimator as he/she develops and finalizes the cost estimate.

Schedule and Planning:

  • Participate and assist the Project Manager in preparation of technical reports and proposals.
  • Observe field work and assist in the creation and continual upkeep of a projects' schedule, including outlining each activities scheduling impacted through Microsoft Projects (Gantt Chart).
  • Assist in the implementation, execution, and monitoring of construction activities by following a defined project execution plan within a specific set of standards.
  • Through assistance from the Project Manager, administer and help manage field based contractual requirements.

Reporting and Cost Tracking:

  • Assist with the administration of 4CP data entries for project cost tracking.
  • Assist with the daily submission of a project update for all stakeholders.
  • Assist with daily, weekly, and monthly rollups of all project related LEMS.
  • Assist with preparing progress invoices and project status reports.
  • Assist with administrative tasks throughout the entire project life cycle.
  • Assist with and provide field QA/QC inspection services that adhere to contractual requirements.

Survey:

  • Assist with survey data collection as required by the project manager.

Qualification and Educational Requirements:


  • 13 years of prior experience in related construction projects with a postsecondary degree/diploma or combination of education and relevant experience
  • Experience of project management practices; formal training or certification is a definite asset.
  • Knowledge of any surveying software an asset, including onsite survey experience.
  • Ability to positively liaison with customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and consultants.
  • Must have strong interpersonal, collaboration and communications skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to persevere through the effects of change.
  • Ability to travel to Secure project sites throughout Manitoba and Saskatchewan regularly.
  • Ability to work out of town on a 21 and 7 shift rotation.
  • Valid and current class 5 driver's license.
  • Fit for work, everyday.
