Reporting to the Manager, Afghan Newcomer Program as part of the Connecting Afghan Refugees to Good Jobs team, this Coordinator role will be tasked with the outreach to newly arrived Afghans and help them make connections with our Community Partners.

The Coordinator must speak Persian/Dari and have strong connections to the Afghan community. This is a non-union position and part of the management team.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Manage logistics for outreach communications and events, including ongoing progress reports to the Manager.
  • Liaise with community partner organizations across Canada and other affiliated groups and individuals.
  • Provide outstanding service to all stakeholders and ensure timely pre
- and post-event and communications follow-up.

  • Supports the project team in resolving client issues.
  • Escalate sensitive and or challenging situations to the Manager.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure that deliverables are met.
  • Support virtual and inperson events in the program and across the organization as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with other ACCES initiatives to support program awareness and growth.
  • Assists with marketing, promotion, and community and employer outreach.
  • Works closely with marketing in the creation of community outreach flyers.
  • Assist in data entry and evaluation of results; monitor progress and success of the initiative.
  • Actively promote the creation and maintenance of internal and external client referral networks.
  • Assist with coordination, preparation, collection, and maintenance of regular reports, scheduling of project activities, maintaining projectrelated statistics, recording of meeting minutes, and invoicing, as required.
  • Assist the Manager with HR activities, including but not limited to screening applicants, orientation and onboarding, verifying time sheets, and other similar management support activities.
  • Makes recommendations to the Manager regarding program activities to improve its administrative efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Other duties as assigned including staff supervision, support of site activities, evening supervisor shift rotation, and support of other managers/activities, as required.

Qualifications:

Fluency in Persian or Dari is a requirement.

  • Required to travel between ACCES sites, to offsite meetings with community partners, to residential facilities, to hiring events for Afghan clients, among other locations as needed across the GTA.
  • Post-Secondary Degree or diploma in a related field is an asset.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Have strong ties to the Afghan community.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively in a diverse environment, interacting with clients, employers, community partners, and service providers.
  • Thorough knowledge of all facets of job search and career development including an understanding of labour market trends.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct outreach\marketing of clients and services to employers.
  • Experience working in an MS Office environment; familiarity with database management programs (ex. Salesforce).
  • Exceptional planning, organization, and problemsolving skills; must be proactive, and have a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to absorb new ideas and concepts quickly and to ensure they are clearly communicated to an audience.
  • Demonstrated experience in case/file and data management.
  • Fluency in Pashto is an asset.
  • Knowledge of/experience working with marginalized communities, including refugees, newcomers, and internationally trained professionals is an asset.
