About this Opportunity

In this role, you will:


  • Maintain a secure & stable network environment to reduce downtime and increase productivity.
  • Ensure all servers and network equipment are maintained and patched in a timely manner.
  • Setup new servers (MS HyperV, Azure VM, physical).
  • Ensure all documentation on network equipment, systems and servers are maintained and available to the team (shared in MS Teams site).
  • Ensures all antivirus/antimalware/MDR, antispam, and intrusion deterrents are current and appropriately adjusted and monitored across all systems.
  • Assist digital adoption and training specialist with developing and delivering user training where required.
  • Ensure principle of least privilege when configuring roles and account permissions for systems and people
  • Ensure strong passwords are used for configured accounts and MFA is enforced where appropriate.
  • Monitor for and ensure inactive users are disabled in a timely manner.
  • Assist with monitoring the SIEM and investigating events.
  • Ensure appropriate logging for identifying unauthorized activity is configured on servers and network equipment and that logs are kept for a minimum of 90 days and monitored.
  • Tracks, and assist the IT team with maintaining the shared records of all IT hardware and software inventory.
  • Maintain compliance with Microsoft licensing terms across IT infrastructure.
  • Review software licensing ahead of annual renewals, ensure appropriate count, and identify the most costeffective licensing solutions for the organization.
  • Projects as assigned: investigate new software and hardware solutions and negotiate best pricing.
  • For matters escalated by or that are out of scope for 3rd party tier 1 support: provide IT support for GGC users, enabling them to be more productive in their positions.
  • Set up user accounts for new employees with appropriate security levels.
  • Assist with acquiring and set up of hardware.
  • Assist the Technical Support Specialist in provisioning and deploying end point devices.
  • Monitor ticketing system, ensure assigned tickets are responded to within target times.
  • Help to administer and monitor Office 365 (with a focus on Admin and Exchange online) and Azure AD to setup and support users across the organization, and to identify and respond to risks.
  • Administer Azure Infrastructure: support existing systems and assist with configure new systems when required.
  • When working remotely or when others in the team are working remotely: Maintain online presence on MS Teams during work hours and be responsive to messages from the rest of the team
  • Monitor and address issues with server performance.
  • Oversee and assist with backup operations and disaster recovery preparations.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve our IT systems and processes so they are best practice. Work with the team to implement approved changes.
  • Learn and maintain skills and qualification for IT systems used by GGC.
  • Be mindful of risks to our information, systems, and processes. Be on the lookout for unidentified risks and bring these to the attention of the Information Security Analyst, Senior IT Administrator, and Senior IT Manager when discovered.
  • Stay up to date with developments in the industry.
  • Post-Secondary degree in IT or related discipline.
  • 4 + years of experience in an IT Administrator, Network or Generalist role or comparable role (Network, infrastructure, endpoint).
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience with MS Azure Infrastructure.
  • Intuitive demonstrable understanding of IT security and risk identification and mitigation.
  • Experience with a SIEM solution
  • Experience with a vulnerability management solution
  • Experience with a patch management solution
  • Experience with Exchange/Exchange online
  • Experience with managed switches
  • Computer software proficiency with MS Office Applications.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with superior attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent Time management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Starting salary:
$55, 231

*Salary based on location, Greater Toronto Area


This position will remain open until filled. Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis.
