Job Summary


The Coordinator, Sustainability Employee Engagement is responsible for designing and coordinating the company's employee sustainability engagement program (EcoConnexions) at CN yards and offices across North America to increase the awareness, engagement, and participation in the program.

The role engages with management and unionized employees across different departments and geographic locations to share best practices, respond to requests, and embed sustainability into the organization.

Furthermore, the role assists in the design and implementation of internal communication strategies, campaigns for the EcoConnexions program and fosters collaboration among employees to embed sustainability in their daily work.

The incumbent shares the results of the program to enhance CN's brand and reputation while bolstering employee attraction and retention and connects the sustainability employee engagement program to the Company's broader sustainability strategy and objectives.

Main Responsibilities

Program Delivery

  • Coordinate EcoConnexions with the objective of driving employee engagement and empowering employees to take on sustainabilityfocused projects, across all functions and the network
  • Develop and implement an annual plan for the EcoConnexions program in order to enhance and improve it through a targeted, tactical monthly plan with specific action items
  • Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to enable program reporting and complete an initial measurable baseline assessment to monitor success
  • Identify, enroll, engage, and support a crossfunctional team of program ambassadors
  • Develop and deliver workshops for EcoChampions on their role and provide practical training to encourage employees to take on sustainable projects
  • Be the point of contact for employees and EcoChampions and respond to inquiries and requests concerning the program
  • Mobilize, sponsor, and participate in field projects, including yard visits and other events
  • Manage program inventory to be leveraged for employee engagement activities and recognition
  • Keep abreast of and recommend best practices in employee engagement programs, especially for programs focused on sustainability
Program Communications

  • Assist in developing and supporting the execution of an internal communication plan with targeted messaging for EcoChampions and employees
  • Develop and roll out EcoConnexions communication tools including internal website, campaigns, program materials (e.g., posters), and internal newsletters to create awareness of, support for, and engagement in the program as well as to ensure employees know how to get involved
  • Develop and implement measures to recognize and celebrate EcoChampions and program achievements and results internally and externally
Stakeholder Relations

  • Coordinate daytoday relations with functional partners, including Environment, Facilities, Safety, to fulfil joint program objectives
  • Prepare stakeholder impact report at the end of the year to review program results and help with program planning
Working Conditions

The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday.

Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure and stress.

The role requires mínimal travel (up to 10%) within Canada and the United States (U.S.).


Requirements:

Experience

Employee Engagement

  • Between 3 to 5 years of experience in employee engagement with demonstrated success and experience in facilitating and influencing employees
  • Experience in project management, change management, and employee communications
  • Experience in the field of sustainability
  • Any experience for these above would be considered as an asset
Education/Certification/Designation

  • Bachelor's Degree in Administration, Commerce, Marketing, Business Administration or possess an equivalent designation
  • Any designation for these above would be considered as an asset
