Position Summary:


101 Street Apartments is a Community-Based Residential Facility (CBRF) funded by the Correctional Service of Canada (C.S.C) and operated by the Edmonton John Howard Society.

The CBRF works with high-risk adult males, with various psychiatric disorders and physical disabilities, who are on release in the community, under the authority of Parole Board Canada.

Our goal is to assist and support clients in their transition from incarceration to community living.


As a Caseworker, you have the opportunity to promote pro-social and healthy lifestyles using various methods including but not limited to, ongoing monitoring/reporting of client behaviour, assessing the risks and needs of clients, completing accurate referrals to treatment centers/community resources as required, and assisting clients in the development and implementation of SMART goals.

Caseworkers are part of a Case Management Team which consists of a Parole Officer and where applicable, could include Edmonton Police Officers, RCMP and/or Program Facilitators.

The Case Management Team's role is to aid in all aspects of client care in hopes of a successful release.


Responsibilities:


  • Regularly meet with, observe, and document resident behaviour, progress or deterioration, both within the CBRF and in the community.
  • Delivery of services in a clientcentred, strengthbased approach.
  • Maintain file and supervision standards set by the Edmonton John Howard Society and Correctional Services Canada.
  • Liaison with Parole Officers, Edmonton City Police, and various other treatment professionals.
  • Attend client case conferences, unit, and agency meetings, and staff training.
  • Goal setting with the clients that are specific to risk factors and compliment their special conditions of release.
  • Completion of accurate written documentation, data collection/entry, intakes, and assessments.
  • Contribute to the management of a highrisk, highneeds client base by being a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ensure services are being delivered in accordance with Agency Policies and Procedures.
  • Contribute to a positive culture by assisting and supporting colleagues as needed and encourage, mentor, and teach others about the unit's operations.
  • Has strong work ethic, high degree of integrity, and takes pride in their work.

Qualifications / Skills:


  • Degree or Diploma in human services field with related experience.
  • Ability to understand the dynamics of offenders' behaviour and assess their needs and risks.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check, Enhanced Reliability Screening, and valid First Aid/CPR.
  • Flexibility to work an oncall rotation.
  • Strong communication and prosocial relationshipbuilding skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a mental health population.

Conditions of Employment:


  • The hours for this position are Monday
  • Friday from 7:00am 3:00pm with an immediate start date.
  • This is a position that requires frequent standing, walking up and down stairs, and occasional lifting.

Salary:

The salary for this position is $50,000 annually.
