    Description

    Working collaboratively with the Early Years Program Manager, the AECD Coordinator plans, develops, implements and oversees the day-to-day operations of the AECD Program.

    AECD programs and services are designed to ensure children get the best possible start in life.
    Children experience healthy early childhood development, including optimal early learning and care.
    Parents are empowered and supported to nurture and care for their children.
    Communities support the development of all children and families.

    This dynamic individual will be highly engaged, and self-directed with a passion for Aboriginal early learning and development; Teamwork/supervision, organization, planning and development, detail orientation and client development are key competencies of this position.

    Supervises the day-to-day activities of the AECD team including the Early Childhood Educators, the Bus Driver, and the Nutritional Advisor/Cook.

    Provides feedback to the Program Manager regarding staff performance.

    Ensures participant intake and reporting forms are completed and up to date for all groups, including Family Culture Nights.

    Supports the ECD Program Manager in data collection for reporting and other related duties as required.
    Develops curriculum and ensures continuous quality improvements for the 0-6 ECD Drop-In program.
    Collaborate with Program Coordinators within the ECD programs within the agencyt (AHS) for planning events and program collaborations.

    Coordinates safety and sanitation procedures, first aid and emergency medical procedures in the ECD Drop-In program and promotes healthy and hygienic practices.

    Ensures Elders participation in the ECD Drop-In program and coordinates child drop-in for other ECD programs as required.
    Models positive parent child interactions
    Basic computer skills (including Microsoft Office).

    Minimum qualifications include a diploma in a related field (ECD) and current ECE licensing and a minimum of 6 months supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant certifications plus years of ECD experience and supervisory experience.

    Food Safe, Infant CPR, present a clear tuberculosis test, a valid class 4 license, a clear driver's abstract.
    Experience working in a non-profit sector an asset.
    Knowledge of Indigenous communities, organizations, and service providers within the Circle 5 area (Surrey/Delta/White Rock Region).
