POSITION OVERVIEW


The FMRK is seeking to hire for our Qualified Faculty List (QFL) which is utilized for Non-Regular type 1 contracts as they become available.

A non-regular Type 1 faculty member is a non-regular faculty member who is hired for a defined period, to teach specific courses or perform specific work such as substitutions, vacation coverage, short-term emergency hires and other work that is not expected to be ongoing.

The FMRK program is also vetting current instructors from across KPU to be inventoried for our QFL. Calendar descriptions for each course are included at the end of the posting.

We are seeking applicants who are qualified to teach one or a selection of the following courses:


  • FMRK 1105 Digital Software for Marketing
  • FMRK 1205 Visual Communication for Fashion Marketing
  • FMRK 1215 Textile Science
  • FMRK 2120 Fashion Writing
  • FMRK 2205 Fashion Buying
  • FMRK 2260 Entrepreneurial eCommerce for Fashion Marketing

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Faculty members of FMRK are also expected to contribute and participate in any of the following:

  • Curriculum development and review.
  • Assisting students outside of scheduled class time.
  • Preparation processes and site visits.
  • Service and representation of the programme on various university committees, internally and externally.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum required qualifications include:

  • Postsecondary teaching experience is preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Marketing or related disciplines or academic credentials
  • Experience appropriate to areas of responsibility and at least three years of related work experience
  • Minimum 3 years of postsecondary teaching experience or a teaching credential is preferred

CALENDAR DESCRIPTIONS

FMRK 1105 Digital Software for Fashion Marketing

Students will examine the capabilities of industry-standard productivity software such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel to develop solutions for fashion marketing related business activities.

They will create and edit fashion marketing-related artwork and digital media using design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.


FMRK 1205 Visual Communication for Fashion Marketing

FMRK 1215 Textile Science

Students will develop their knowledge of how fabrics are created and incorporated into apparel products for effective fashion marketing communication purposes.

They will examine how factors such as industry issues, sourcing practices, labeling laws, fabric finishes, and care instructions affect apparel design, production, and marketing decisions.


FMRK 2120 Fashion Writing

FMRK 2205 Fashion Buying

Students will examine the financial aspects of merchandising and buying of consumer apparel products including pricing strategies, sales planning, purchasing retail inventories, and reporting.
