Why is this role important?

  • The Program Lead, Analytical Data Management, is part of a matrix team responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of crossfunctional activities related to the management of CIHI's analytical data, including data access processes. This includes the planning, development and implementation of data management related policies, standards, best practices and tools as well as supporting broader governance requirements.
  • What you'll do
  • 1. Provides leadership and guidance to staff in an interdisciplinary matrix environment. Supervises, coaches, coordinates and monitors workload and performance of staff to ensure that quality is maintained and that learning opportunities are provided. Conducts annual performance management reviews.
  • 2. Leads priority data management related initiatives including all the activities, tasks and responsibilities associated with the planning, prioritization, implementation, and evaluation within this program of work.
  • 3. Develops and maintains a thorough understanding of CIHI's privacy/security requirements as they relate to business and user needs in order to advance data management solutions.
  • 4. Maintains current knowledge of and leverages industry standards and best practices to develop and implement standards, policies, guidelines, tools and metrics for managing data and metadata.
  • 5. Prepares presentations and education materials to support key data management initiatives at CIHI, including communication and documentation, related to the operations and enhancement of the data access process within CIHInow.
  • 6. Monitors and maintains internal data access processes in CIHInow, including supporting users and troubleshooting issues.
  • 7. Acts as an expert resource advising the organization on data management and data access practices. Works closely with staff in Privacy and Legal Services, Information Security to implement CIHI's datarelated policies and procedures. Acts as champion for Demonstrable Accountability.
  • 8. Builds relationships with key staff across CIHI to support the program of work. Promotes crossfunctional coordination and communication. Supports initiatives to strengthen overall governance and stewardship capabilities within the organization.
  • 9. Establishes and maintains relevant contacts with external organizations to exchange knowledge and expertise relating to data management.
  • 10. Promotes the organization, its products and services, through participation on external committees, presentations and/or attendance at provincial, national and international conferences, preparation of articles for publication and other activities as required.
  • What you'll bring to the table
  • Undergraduate degree in Health/Business Administration, Health Information or relevant field.
  • 5 years' experience in health care information.
  • 3 years of experience supervising staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with mínimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of the data and information lifecycle and related governance, and experience in the collection and use of data.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problemsolving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships at various levels of the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Detailoriented, ability to set priorities and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Selfdirected, innovative and able to work with mínimal supervision, while working effectively within a large, interdisciplinary team.
