Job Summary

  • The undergraduate program in Medical Sciences is a fouryear program leading to a Bachelor of Science in Medical Sciences degree with an option for Honours. The Faculty of Science administers the 600student program, with a major contribution from the Faculty of Medicine, and the assistance of the Faculty of Arts & Sciences. Reporting jointly to the Assistant Dean, Medical Sciences and the Executive Director, Operations & Policy, the Program Manager is responsible for the daytoday operation of the program and for monitoring the success of various aspects of the program, as well as suggesting adjustments to areas in need of change. The Program Manager deals directly with all levels of the University administration and program delivery, including faculty, staff, Department Heads, various Associate and Assistant Deans, Deans, Senate committees, and the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaise, strategize, and coordinate with the Assistant Dean, Medical Sciences, other Assistant and Associate Deans within the Faculties of Medicine and Science, and any other relevant administrators, faculty, and staff, in the faculties offering courses within the Medical Sciences programming or related to future career streams for Medical Sciences students.
  • Represent the Medical Sciences program on all relevant committees and serve as the face of the program to the external community.
  • Facilitate course scheduling, class times, reserved seats, as well as oversee hospital preplacement requirements for hospital learners.
  • Proactively plan for program growth and develop new credentials or program options, as needed, based on student feedback, recommendations from external reviewers, consultations with Assistant and Associate Deans, Deans, and other relevant parties.
  • Manage two staff, the Medical Sciences Advisor and Clerk.

Note

  • The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of inperson work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a science or healthrelated field, plus five years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Strong written, oral, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders and leadership experience.

Assets

  • Experience working in a higher education/university setting.
  • Knowledge of programming and admissions related to Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, graduate school, and other healthrelated programs.
