Description:

The Sprott Department of Surgery at University Health Network (UHN) is conducting a search for the next Division Head of General Surgery and the Peter A.

Crossgrove Chair in General Surgery, an endowed chair at UHN and the University of Toronto. These appointments are for a five-year term, renewable once, following a successful review.

The Division Head appointment is a full-time faculty position at the level of Associate or Full Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto and will be based at University Health Network.

The effective date of these appointments is flexible; however, we hope to have this search completed by mid 2024.

The Division Head will oversee the administration activities of the Division of General Surgery, with responsibilities for clinical and academic activities, including excellence in patient care, teaching of medical students, residents and fellows, research, innovation, recruitment, and related service duties.

Financial management and assurance of quality of care in the division are core components of this position.

University Health Network is comprised of the Toronto General Hospital (TGH), Toronto Western Hospital (TWH), Princess Margaret Cancer Centre (PM), the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute and the Michener Institute of Education.

The Division of General Surgery is comprised of 28 full-time clinical faculty members, within multiple UHN Programs, offering clinical care in the areas of general surgery, including hepatobiliary, colorectal, breast, endocrine, acute care, transplantation (liver, kidney, pancreas and small bowel), bariatric and mínimally invasive surgery based at 3 sites (TGH, TWH, PMH).
