Description

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Estimator analyzes the scope of work and creates drawings and estimates for labour, material and time required.

Key Responsibilities

Analyzes scope of work to bid.
Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
Computes costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
Presents prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Maintains cost data base by entering and backing up data.
Establishes and maintains working relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
Carries out other related tasks and projects as required.

Qualifications

Education: Diploma or Degree in engineering, estimating or extensive experience
Experience: at least 3 years' experience as an Estimator in a metal or plastic manufacturing environment
Experience reading blueprints
Excellent numerical analytical skills
Strong MS Excel and Word Skills, ERP or MRP experience an asset
Strong oral and written English
Able to work in a dynamic high paced environment
Eager and willing to learn and progress.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Solid Works Experience would be an asset
