Due to an impending retirement, we have an exciting opening for a
National Health & Safety Manager based out of our Corporate Office in Mississauga, ON.

You will lead health & safety programs, conduct inspections and audits as well as meetings and training sessions.

This role will provide practical expertise and tactical execution of the Company's H&S programs and will drive the execution of occupational health and safety initiatives, including the development of policies, procedures, programs and training that result in legislative compliance; and a safe, healthy, and secure environment.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Health and Safety Strategy

  • Develop and maintain an annual strategic plan for H&S by engaging all stakeholders of the company for input and feedback and submit for executive approval.
  • Create and update policies.
  • Ensure effective & consistent implementation of Health and Safety policies and programs by influencing leadership teams and other stakeholders. Act as the conduit for guidance and advice
  • In partnership with Branch safety committee representatives, support incident investigations, accident prevention and investigation analysis for all Branches.
  • Partner with Branch Operations to ensure all safety issues are addressed & resolved.
  • Maintain knowledge of all applicable current and proposed legislative requirements including federal and provincial legislation and trends in occupational health and safety. Educate appropriate stakeholders on these issues.
Leadership

  • Provide support to the branches on Workers Compensation claims, and return to work management
  • Conduct in person audits in warehouses, shops, offices and with service technicians to ensure that the actions resulting from these audits and action plans are appropriately prioritized and implemented.
  • Provide guidance to all areas of the company on matters concerning workplace H&S.
  • Assist with the development and improve programs related to Health and Safety.
  • Support the promotion of H&S at all branches across Canada through participation with various cross functional teams.
  • Ensure that all current health and safety legal, company and customer H&S requirements are implemented across the country.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Background in a national multisite environment is essential.
  • Fluency in French would be an asset

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Outdoor, warehouse, shop and office environments
  • Able to travel to our branches across Canada as required.

RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:


  • 57 years of experience in Health and Safety Management
  • Experience and/or knowledge within the retail petroleum industry is an asset
  • Proven results in participation in various provincial COR and customer audits
  • Multiprovince workers compensation board experience.
  • Proven ability to plan and implement change
  • Proven ability to liaise with and buildeffective working relationships with various business partners in forging and managing collaborative strategic relationships and partnerships both internally and with subcontractors
  • Experience in H&S audits
  • Understand policy and program development and implementation
  • Proven track record in designing and delivering multisite, national Health and Safety Programs.
  • Familiar with populating supplier prequalification websites.
  • Knowledge of ISNetworld, Avetta and ComplyWorks contractor sites would be an asset

EDUCATION:


  • Certified Registered Safety Professional designation (CRSP) or working towards CRSP designation.
