RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre.

Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University.

The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position summary


Working closely with and reporting to the Director, Research Services, the Research Navigator provides counsel and direction to researchers regarding resources, processes, and expertise for conducting clinical and translational research at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre.


The position is based in the Research Services Division and collaborates closely with research program managers, research administration and the Centre for Innovative Medicine.

General Duties

  • Assist researchers in identifying and accessing the appropriate resources required to help them navigate researchrelated processes.
  • Serve as a central resource through which researcher inquiries and requests for assistance are managed and supported.
  • Act as primary point of contact for questions from new investigators.
  • Give support to resource development and provide training to the research community.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Create/organize/provide onboarding materials (guides, FAQs) for new researchers at the RI-MUHC,
  • Support new researchers through the onboarding process,
  • Promote institutional policies and best practices,
  • Identify resources for the timely and successful completion of research projects,
  • Refer investigators to appropriate clinical research resources, services, and programs,
  • Provide educational sessions for programs, departments and individual study teams about the resources available across the RI-MUHC to support specific research programs and projects.

  • Bilingual in both written and spoken English and French in order to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, make presentations and develop/compose complex documents targeted to multiple audiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload and adapt to a changing community.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver inservice education sessions to researchers and their staff. Reliable, and able to produce accurate work, possesses the ability to work independently, effectively and efficiently under pressure, and to multitask, juggling competing demands with limited supervision.

Education / Experience


Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Bachelor's degree in Science or a related field.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel),
Knowledge of Nagano an asset
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for dealing with internal and external contacts. Ability to develop trust and rapport with RI community, collaborators and partners.
Has skills in active listening and conflict management and experience with culturally diverse populations.
Ability to maintain integrity in working with confidential information.


Work Experience:

Three (3) years' experience within the research environment
Knowledge and familiarity with clinical research

Status:
Full-Time (35-hour workweek)


Pay Scale:
$ 46,173 to $ 85,740, commensurate with education and experience


Work Shift:
from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays to Fridays


Work Site:
Hybrid model telework and on site (2155 Guy)
