About the Role:


You will contribute by:

The following is an outline of some but not all of the primary functions and responsibilities for this position:

  • Reporting daily on community events and journalism related to commercial partners as approved by the news department.
  • Generating original and community related stories.
  • Assisting the sales team with content brainstorming and execution.
  • Writing, producing, and posting content with multiple deadlines on a daily basis for television, radio, and online.
  • Developing content through a diverse and inclusive lens, including through the lens of Truth and Reconciliation.
  • Utilizing technology on a daily basis to provide video, stills, and streaming video for online, social media, and broadcast.
  • Regularly reporting live on location.
  • Creating relationships with community organizations.
  • Representing Global BC at a variety of public functions.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Skills and experience you will bring:

  • Post-secondary education in broadcast journalism or a related field.
  • Minimum two years of experience reporting or anchoring.
  • Experience in reporting community events.
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills.
  • Ability to go live from the field with strong presentation skills and clarity.
  • Demonstrated experience in inclusive journalism, with experience in Indigenous storytelling.
  • Strong news judgment.
  • Problemsolving skills and ability to adjust to changing priorities and objectives.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate accountability and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • A desire to be the best, have a positive cando attitude, and work cooperatively with others in a group setting.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a clear driving record.
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms and storytelling.
  • Willingness to adapt to rapidly changing technology and workflows as well as show a willingness to learn new online skills in a multifaceted digital news operation.
